Career :
Leeds born Jamie, joined the Rhinos in 2006, eventually signing for his hometown having previously played in the city with amateur club Oulton Raiders, before turning professional with Hunslet.
He joined Leeds from Hull FC and made his Rhinos debut against his former club in a high pressure game at the KC Stadium and retained his place in the side for the remainder of the season.
In 2007 Jamie featured in 27 games and scored 5 tries, one of which provided the highlights of the season, when his spectacular effort against Catalans Dragons was judged try of the season.
He left the Rhinos in March 2008 after he and the club mutually agreed to terminate his contract. |
Rugby
Career :
Jamie began his professional career with Hunslet Hawkes in 1997. In his debut season he made 4 first team starts and 4 appearances off the bench. A year later he scored his first try for the club against Rochdale and in that same came added a second as the Hawkes recorded their biggest win of the season. By 2000 he had established himself as a first team regular, making 19 appearances over the season. His form that year attracted another Yorkshire club, Halifax who signed the prop for the following season. In total he spent 3 seasons with the club, making 51 appearances and scored 3 tries. In 2003 he moved to Castleford Tigers, spending two seasons and scoring 5 tries in 21 games. Due to a broken arm he missed the last five months of Super League and frustratingly had to watch as his side were relegated from the top flight. He signed for Hull the following season on an initial one year deal, with the Arlie Birds keen to see Jamie prove his fitness after his long spell out of the game. He not only went onto prove that he was fit enough to play in Super League but that he was also worthy of an international call up. In that debut season he had his best season to date since turning professional, he was an ever present that season and notched up 5 tries in his 35 appearances. His performances not only impressed the Hull faithful but he also gained his first call up to the Great Britain squad, coming on from the bench in three of the Tri Nations games. 2005 also provided another highlight for Jamie, when he was an integral part of the Hull side who beat the Rhinos in the Powergen Challenge Cup Final. |
