Leeds Career :
Doug Laughton signed Kevin Iro in 1992 from Australian team Manly. His first season was put on hold with an ankle injury that kept him out of the game until November. Once he had put injury aside Iro was quick to impress the Headingley crowd, scoring two tries on his debut against Widnes in the 48-16 win and then went on to play 19 games and score 10 tries in his first season. During his time at Headingley he played in over 115 games and scored 60 tries before leaving in 1996.
Rugby Career :
Kevin first came on to the British scene in 1987 when he signed for Wigan, during his time there he won a number of honours, which including 2 league championships and 6 challenge cups. He held the record for tries in Challenge Cup finals with 6 for Wigan in '88, '89 and '90, 2 on each occasion. In 1999 he scored the winning try in Grand Final for St Helens.
He made 34 appearances for New Zealand before announcing his retirement from the team so he could attain selection for the Cook Islands. Since leaving Leeds he has played for Auckland Warriors, Hunter Mariners and St Helens. During his 3 spells with British clubs Kevin scored 124 tries and 37 goals in over 220 appearances.
