The world famous Headingley Carnegie Stadium has been synonymous with world-class
sport for over a century.
Formerly Lot 17A of the Cardigan Estate, the north Leeds venue
was purchased for £20,000 in January 1889 for the Leeds
Cricket, Football and Athletic Co under the Chairmanship of Lord
Hawke. Now home to the Yorkshire County Cricket Club and the famous
Test wicket, Leeds Rhinos RLFC and Leeds Carnegie RFUC and the infamous
South Stand, Hawkes vision of creating one of the worlds
greatest sporting venues has been realised.
Headingley has witnessed some of the greatest sporting
triumphs and legends of the last century - each one a book-mark
in the pages of Headingleys rich sporting history.
From the first kick and pass, Headingley attracted substantial
crowds and quickly became the premier sporting venue in Yorkshire
and secured international status almost immediately.
Substantial re-building, expansion and improvement projects over
the past century to accommodate increasing attendance have firmly
cemented Headingley as one of the most unique, imposing but hospitable
venues in the world.
The impressive sporting venue is equally matched by the Stadiums
corporate hospitality. Headingley Carnegie Stadium has a number of high-quality
suites and lounges to suit any requirement, from exclusive, members
only clubs, to informal banqueting suites
and hotel facilities.
