Willie Poching teaches the Haka to Leeds children

Recently retired Leeds Rhinos player and former New Zealand international Willie Poching will be teaching the children at Pudsey Waterloo Primary School how to do the Haka. This comes ahead of the international double header to be hosted at Headingley Carnegie Stadium which will see Tonga play Samoa before England play France as part of the Federation Shield Tournament. The Haka is a traditional Maori war dance which has been adopted by the New Zealand rugby team. The Haka is performed ahead of all their games to lay down a challenge to their opponents. Both Tonga and Samoa have their own version of this which they will perform before their Federation Shield clash. Willie Poching will be meeting up with children at Pudsey Waterloo Primary School on Thursday 12th October at 9.15am to teach the children the haka and it’s history. The children will then come up with their very own version to perform at the game. Tickets for the Federation Shield double header at Headingley Carnegie Stadium are on sale now from £15 for adults and £5 for concessions. Rhinos season ticket holders get a further discount paying just £5 for adults and £1 for juniors. To buy call the RFL directly on 0870 990 1313.
